KAIBIGAN Kids Night Out

The term kaibigan is the Tagalog word for “friends” and it perfectly describes this community gathering as friends. This event is especially for youth to experience a little more about Filipino culture and heritage in a smaller setting.

FIL-AM Fest

Since 2021, this annual community festival held on 2nd weekend in October recognizes and celebrates the contributions of Filipinos/Fil-Ams to the history of the United States. From food vendors to community resources; from performances to festive games, this event brings the Ketchikan’s community together to enjoy an afternoon of Filipino spirit.

FIL-AM Club Ketchikan
High School

High school based student club is open to Filipinos/Fil-Ams and others who want an inclusive, safe, and fun space to celebrate and learn about the Filipino culture. From making holiday Christmas lanterns “Parols” to hosting a Tagalog language basics class, these students are dedicated to supporting one another for the common good. In addition, leadership, advocacy, and civic engagement opportunities are under development to expand the learning objectives and goals of this student led organization. MAGSAYAWAN Ketchikan –LET'S DANCE Ketchikan

This is a cultural folk dance and music program intended to reinvigorate and revitalize the presence of Filipino heritage and culture in Ketchikan. Established in 2022, the program continues to thrive and grow with participants of all ages, and classes are held throughout the year. The program has sessions for our performance groups as well as cultural enrichment classes throughout the school district. Hoy Ketchikan Kapamilya – Join us for a summer Filipino cultural enrichment opportunity. We want our youth to celebrate their cultural heritage, engage in cultural learning, and embrace their self-identity. From hearing folk stories and learning basic language greetings, to dancing to tribal Kulintang gongs and learning folk traditions; participants will have an educational and fun filled week of learning.
